rpg gamesThe key to any form of entrainment is the ability to bring viewers into a new world they want to stay apart of. This is extremely true with RPG games. It has been awhile since I took on a video game like this but my friend is all about role playing games. He explains simply by comparing it to his childhood love of those Choose Your Own Adventure books. I’m sure you know what I am talking about. He likes having choices as we all do but in the video game form. There have been days where I have sat in his living room watching him walk from city to digital city in Fall Out collecting trinkets to trade at the local store, talking to inhabitants of each place and exploring with no set mission in mind other then advancing his character.

Fall Out is a perfect example of how far RPG games have come. You could play this title for months and still miss portions of the open world environment. This is extremely true for PC RPG games too. My buddy is more into standalone systems but there was a time years back when he got into World of Warcraft. Some go to the movies, some read books and others escape into RPG games. What is your poison?
