One of the reasons that I play RPG games is to escape from the chaos of life and just be someone else for awhile. For a long time the RPG games that I would play was the paper and pencil kind. This is the type that required the use of books, manuals, maps, and special dice. I can remember plenty of all night pizza, Mountain Dew, and RPG games festivals. On more than one occasion I would be up all night and then to go to work the next day, only to be back at it after work.

It is not that I take on the persona of the character I am playing in the RPG games. Rather, it is the thrill of stepping into the shoes of someone I will never be for a specific period of time. Be it for a mission, a game, or until my character dies. While I still spend some time playing this type of RPG games, I have really moved on to something much better.

The ultimate in RPG games has to be the role playing games available in video games. I bought an Xbox 360 sometime ago, but never really got into it until I started playing games like Halo and Call of Duty. Talk about the ultimate in RPG games! They put you in the middle of an amazing environment, it could be either space age or historical, and you take on the role of the main character of the story. You do not need a whole group of several players and an Dungeon Master. You just need your game, game console, and controller.
