Today I found the perfect present for my friends who travel the world. It's this SVAT LT12 Global Talking Translator for 12 Languages and it will translate English, Spanish, French, German, Turkish, Italian, Russian, Dutch, Portuguese, Mandarin, Japanese, and Swedish.  Although most of the world speaks English, occasionally an idea or concept is too complex to get across using a non-native language. When spending months away in a foreign country, it's nice to know what everyone is saying around them, so they are getting this for Christmas this year.

The site where I bought it, Shop Terrific Deals located at http://www.shopterrificdeals.com, had two other translator gadget gifts, but I chose this one because it was the smallest of them and comes with a lanyard so the translator can hang around the neck. It also comes with an alarm clock and enough memory for 60 phone numbers. Whomever designed this unit knows all about travel conveniences.

I love giving gadget gifts and with Internet shopping, it's so easy to find gifts that are perfect for people. I've even found gadget gifts for my cats, too. I bought some laser lights online and they think that's the best toy in the world. I'm hoping that the translating gadget gifts I ordered will be frequently used by my friends. Since they spend all summer in foreign countries, they meet a lot of people, some of whom come back to visit them in their home, too. When I find gadget gifts like this that have multiple uses, I like to buy them quickly and keep them in the closet until it's time to give them.

It will be interesting to see how this translator works. Actually, I should order one for our family, too. While we are not likely to go to a foreign country, we have a lot of winter visitors from across the pond, and since we live Phoenix, we have a lot of Hispanics living here. I like to shop in their grocery stores because we love Mexican food, but I don't know any Spanish, so it's a challenge. With gadget gifts like this, it would be so easy to navigate the aisles and talk to the sales people. This translator could be among the more useful gadget gifts we have around the house.
