A Nation of RPG Games |

Role playing games have turned reality on its head. Gamers worldwide look to RPG games as a way to escape. The chances of becoming a sword wielding Merlin in real life are not stacked in anyone’s favor but the opportunity to live out such a fantasy online is simple. RPG games awaken the inner child in all of us and take some out of bad real world situations. Role Models recently hit DVD. In it, there is a character who catches hell from his mom and step dad for participating in real life medieval RPG games, where groups of all ages dress up, band into teams and battle for rule of the magical kingdom (a park outside of a diner).
That movie is a great example of why RPG games have exploded in popularity over the past few years. Playing online is less socially interactive then dressing up and going to the park to slay invisible dragons but there is still a high level of social bonding. Many people have friends they have never met but talk to almost every day while gaming. RPG games aren’t something to make fun of because for a lot of people it is a way to stay connected to a world they enjoy. Happiness is what it’s all about.
